Avoid Distractions Working A Business From Home

http://www.HonestlyFreeHomeBiz.comChoosing to have a business from home is a great step towards achieving self-reliance and financial independence. Often times when people start working a business from home, their level of productivity drops. Why is this and what can be done to change it?
Most people's productivity at work is directly reflective of their job description and company quotas. At work you had many people on which to compare your level of productivity against. Now that you are working from your house, you often have a tendency to treat your home business like a hobby. That attitude will make most people's activity levels drop.
While working your business from home there are many distractions during the day, which can lead you astray. Television, newspapers, internet, kids, phone calls, and housework all can lead you astray from your good intentions to get work done.
One key thing you can do to increase your productivity is to plan out your day, writing down what you want to achieve for that day and stick to your plan as much as possible. Some activities require a dedicated amount of time to be put into it, while other activities just need a specific outcome.
Often times it is better to set daily goals as specific outcomes, otherwise you are just setting time limits. The level of importance for that activity swells to fit the time you gave it when instead you might have been finished earlier with better results if you had focused on the outcome rather than the time put in.
Another tip to feel more productive at home is to dress for the occasion. Every morning you need to get up, shower, and get dressed as if you were going to work. Wearing clothes instead of your bathrobe will put you into a different state of mind and will make you more productive. This will trick your mind into thinking it is time to go to work.
Having a designated office area is another very important thing. You need a room that doesn't have much traffic like an extra bedroom without the furniture or a den. Also, make sure your office is neat and clean and work with the door closed, if at all possible.
Many people who work a business from home feel shut in because now you don't have that time with coworkers gossiping at the water fountain. It is important to get out of the house a couple of times during the day and go for a walk or drive. You were allowed to take breaks at your day job, so why not at your business from home?
If you decide you really can't work your business from home; look into renting some cheap office space somewhere. In many office buildings you can find a room to rent somewhere, which is much cheaper than renting a whole office building.
Working at a business from home is great but you must have the discipline to keep at it. It takes consistency and dedication just like any other job, but it can be a greater experience. Start now by making your to-do list for the things you need to get done tomorrow.
