A great way to increase the number of articles you write is to write about what you know. The less amount of time you spend on research the more articles you can write. If you are writing about how to perform brain surgery and you can't even dress a wound properly, then you may have to waste valuable time researching medical journals.
Learn how to condense your articles and take the saved time to increase the number of articles you write. A lot of article directories will accept 250 word articles. Other directories require a minimum of 400 words.
Be excited about the articles you write. This is why you should be writing articles in a niche where you have a passion or interest. You will be more motivated to sit down to write and it will show in the type of articles you write.
When you write, be determined to get the articles completed. This may mean going to a secluded area where you do not have any distractions. Taking your laptop with you when you take the kids to the playground may not be an effective use of your time and certainly will affect how many articles you produce.
Once you get in a comfort zone write as many articles as you can. If you can think in terms of 10 or 20 articles a day, your Internet business will explode.
It is not impossible to write five to 10 articles an hour when you are in the right frame of mind.
